Amy & Jacob's beautiful wedding at Lains Barn
April 6th, 2024, was a day filled with love, laughter, and an incredible amount of music as Amy and Jacob tied the knot at the picturesque Lains Barn in Wantage. Their wedding was a beautiful reflection of who they are as a couple—creative, relaxed, and deeply connected through music.
What stood out most about Amy and Jacob’s wedding was how much they infused their personalities into the day. Every detail, from the music to the cake and the overall atmosphere, reflected their unique love story.
A Perfect start to the Day
The morning began at Barton House, just a short three-minute drive from Lains Barn. It’s an ideal place to get ready, offering plenty of natural light and beautiful surroundings. The spacious rooms and scenic grounds provided the perfect backdrop for capturing special moments.

Amy’s morning was filled with excitement, laughter, and love. She spent it with her bridesmaids and family in a relaxed atmosphere. The bridesmaids did their own makeup or helped each other, creating a fun and intimate bonding experience. Speaking of the bridal party—both the bridesmaids and groomsmen were ultimate goals! They fully stepped up to ensure Amy and Jacob had the best day ever, and it was heart-warming to witness their support.

Personal Touches That Made the Day Special

Doesn't this first look just give you all the feels?

One of the most impressive personal touches was Jacob’s decision to bake the wedding cake himself. It looked incredible, and when I found out he made it, I was genuinely amazed! Not only was it beautifully crafted, but it also tasted delicious. This cake was just one of the many ways they made their wedding uniquely their own.

Another heartfelt touch was their photo story, showcasing their journey from childhood to the moment they became husband and wife. Seeing their memories displayed so beautifully added an extra layer of sentiment to the day.

Happiness at Lains Barn

A Ceremony Like No Other
Music played a huge role throughout the day, but nowhere more so than in the ceremony. Amy’s vows were unlike anything I had ever captured before—she sang them, bringing tears of joy and laughter to everyone. The musical surprises didn’t stop there. While signing the register, the bridesmaids performed a stunning song. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, the groomsmen pulled off a flash mob to NSYNC!
The ceremony continued with a gorgeous Welsh piece, followed by a powerful rendition of What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. Listening to everyone sing together gave me goosebumps!

The fun did not stop for this couple and their guests! Smiles and laughter lasted all day long in the stunning setting at Lains Barn

Bringing the Fun to Group Photos
I love capturing group photos—whether you have a few or a long list, I know how important these memories are. Gathering everyone can sometimes be a challenge, but it’s worth it to preserve those moments with your favourite people. I also like to make group shots fun and relaxed, so they feel as natural as possible!

Thoughtful Reception Details
Once the room was set for the wedding breakfast, I couldn’t resist taking photos. It looked stunning, with personal touches that reflected Amy and Jacob’s love story. Each table name held special significance, but the top table stood out the most. It was named Royal Albert Hall Proms—the place where Jacob first asked Amy to be his girlfriend and, six years later, where he proposed. How sweet and romantic is that?

A Moment Away from the Crowd
One of my favourite parts of any wedding is stealing the couple away for some quiet time. It allows them to take a breath and enjoy a few intimate moments together, away from the crowd. For Amy and Jacob, we returned to Barton House for some fun, creative portraits. We danced, played with smoke bombs, and captured beautiful, candid moments.

Everyone was so happy for the very yummy cake to be cut!

An Epic Evening Reception
What can I say about their evening reception? It was absolutely electric! Amy and Jacob had a beautiful first dance…
BUT THEN…

The. Beat. Dropped. And the dancefloor exploded! I have never seen a dancefloor so packed. Every guest was on their feet, dancing the night away. The band was phenomenal, and the energy in the room was infectious. It truly was an unforgettable celebration.

If you’re planning a wedding and want to make it personal, take a page from Amy and Jacob’s book. Let your personality shine, and don’t be afraid to make the day truly about you. Whether it’s incorporating a shared passion like music, baking your own cake, or simply creating a joyful and relaxed atmosphere, your wedding should reflect your love story—just like theirs did.
