Worried about being in front of the camera? Here are a few tips to help you relax!

Most of… if not all of my couples say they don’t like being in front of the camera, they feel nervous or a little awkward. You want your photos to be AMAZING and reflect all the love and joy that will unfold on your beautiful wedding day but I know the pressure of “posing” can make you feel a little stiff and uncomfortable, but not too worry as I have a few tips to help!

1.  Find a photographer you trust. It is that simple. In the process of planning your wedding you meet plenty of different photographers. I ALWAYS say to every couple that I meet, that they need to find a photographer who they feel happy and comfortable around. Ask them questions, look at their work, their reviews but meet them, and talk to them. When you have found the one, you will know. Knowing you have found the photographer you feel most comfortable with will 100% help you feel more relaxed in front of that camera as you know, they have got you.

2  .Once you have found your photographer, book an engagement session with them. It is such a great way to get use to having that camera pointed at you but you will also know and understand how your photographer works and what you can expect from them on your wedding day. It is also such a fun and great way to get those beautiful natural photos of you and your partner in a location that you love.

3 .When I take my couples off away from all their guests on the wedding day, I love to get you to focus on each other rather than look at the camera. Focus on the connection between you both, hold hands, share inside jokes, laugh together. I do the gentlest of “posing” on your wedding day, I just adore when you and your new partner focus on each other as when you do this, your natural chemistry will come through in the photos.

4 . As you have already picked a photographer you trust, this one will be easy… Trust their guidance. I will guide you into flattering poses and make little suggestions that work best, tell you to do small but natural moments like, play with your veil or bouquet, walk or dance together. Please do not overthink how you look (please you look flipping incredible. I promise) or try to control every detail, trusting me allows you to focus on having fun and me capturing the most beautiful moments.

5 . Remember the blog from last week? The Magic of Candid Wedding Photography? Well, some of the best photos are the ones that you do not even realise are being taken. So, please do not worry about looking perfect for every sot, focus on enjoying the day and letting things unfold naturally. I am ALWAYS on the search for those amazing candid moments of laughter, love and joy… Oh and that reminds me, don’t be afraid to laugh. You natural smile and laughter is so beautiful.

6 . When the nerves start to creep it, don’t worry, I will always be there to remind you to stop. Take a minute. Take a deep breath and slow down. There is no rush and by staying in the moment, re-centering yourself and look at your partner, hold their hand, it will really help to feel more relaxed.

At the end of the day, your wedding is all about celebrating the love between you and your partner. If you keep these tips in the back of your mind, you’ll feel more confident in front of the camera on your wedding day. Your photos should reflect your true selves and the emotions of the day, not a perfect, posed image. Relax, enjoy the moment and let your love shine through.

Don’t worry though, I’ve got you.

xXx
